MEAN MONKEY ADVENTURE BOARD

MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION:

Mean Monkey Sports, LLC designed the Mean Monkey Adventure Board™ to solve the problem that that conventional riverboards are too bulky to fit into most multi-prong adventure trips.  Mean Monkey wanted an inflatable board burly enough to take on challenging water, yet capable of collapsing into a backpack.  A board that would fulfill needs the both pack-it-in adventure racers and urban or college riverboarders who have plenty of rapids within range, but don’t have the space to store a ton of gear.   

While designed for riverboarding, Mean Monkey also required that their design be adaptable enough to also take sledding duty in the winter when the rivers are iced over or lake duty behind a ski boat when flows taper off in the summer months. 

The prototype Adventure Board underwent testing on the McKenzie River before graduating to a twelve foot waterfall on the Row River.  The prototype took a beating from the folks at American Rescue, before they handed it off to an adventure race team training to compete in Primal Quest 2005.  The Adventure Board prototype weathered a summer of training and stood out among a field of weak inflatable boards as it easily withstood the grueling adventure race. 

After finishing the race, Mean Monkey shipped off the prototype to Nile River Explorers who put it to use with their clients on the White Nile.  Nile River Explorers was hooked on the board and immediately requested more. 

Mean Monkey boards were also used for Primal Quest Montana, as Mean Monkey sponsored a bunch of boards to be rented to international teams and teams that had inferior boards, since the riverboarding was the biggest in AR history. The Mean Monkey boards did awesome, and teams even remarked that they "blew right by other teams who were kicking so hard..."!
