It's that time of year already - time for fun and competitive Riverboarding events!

The 2009 season started off right as a large group of riverboarders descended on Kernville, California, for the 2nd annual Kern River Kickoff this past weekend.

KERN RIVER KICKOFF - RESULTS
1st Place - Alex Koutzoukis
2nd Place - Peter Cameron
3rd Place - Rochelle Parry

Last year's Face Level Riverboarding Champion Alex Koutzoukis will be defending his title and his home turf, the Kern River - but with boarders coming in from all across the US, he's going to have his work cut out for him!

Although, as he'll be quick to point out, getting a free trip to go riverboarding and bodyboarding in Costa Rica was a pretty sweet prize, so it's definitely extra motivation for this season.

But Kevin Yount and Rochelle Parry joined Alex on that trip too, and they'll both be in California gunning to win a trip of their own, along with a number of legendary names and fresh young faces.

And this year's grand prize? This time around the FLRC prize trip will be even bigger, hitting the epic highlights of both Costa Rica AND Panama (much of Panama's whitewater is as incredible as Costa Rica, but far less explored) during the rainy season.

Of course, there will plenty to do at every FLRC event even if you're not into competing, so come out and join the fun with fellow riverboarders! We've got events planned for California, Oregon, Maryland, Colorado, and Idaho, so I'm hoping to see many of you there.

Last year the finals at the Gorge Games were broadcast to millions of people on national TV. This year? Who knows! Just make sure you're there. :)

Also, remember, go sign up for the Eddy Flower Vertical Challenge coming up in May! It counts for points toward the Face Level Riverboarding Championships!
