There are several new Riverboards on the market this year, along with a handful of other popular riverboards.
- Carlson Riverboards
- Rocky Mountain Riverboards
- Ripboard Riverboard
- Kern Riverboards
- Mean Monkey Inflatable Riverboards
Each of these companies has a unique product to offer, and although there are similarities between the boards, all of them have unique features and design elements which the discriminating rider will appreciate.
Several of the boards are made of 'foam', which is really a durable-yet-soft type of plastic that contains millions of air bubbles to give it buoyancy, and these boards have a tough plastic bottom. Other boards are made of hard plastic similar to the element which hard plastic kayaks are made of, and these boards are hollow (although there is now a foam-filled plastic-shell board).
So which board is right for you? All of the boards have been ridden successfully in whitewater Class I - Class V, so really it depends on what you'll be using it for, your preference on foam or plastic, and of course the discretion of your pocketbook.
The boards range from $225 - $475, and you can purchase them (as well as the gear you need) online at the Face Level Store.
